As teachers, it is our job to teach. However, it also is our job to learn and reflect and grow. Here are some important things I have learn thus far as a teacher.
- Model. Model. Model. Model everything for the students. Whether it is how to sharpen a pencil or how to write a poem, modeling is a visual for the students and they are more likely to follow exactly what you did if you just show them how!
- Ask questions! If a child asks you a question turn it back on them. "Where should we put this paper when we are done?" "What do YOU think?"
- Differentiate! There are different levels and styles of learning within a classroom.
